Juniper Parrot-pea

The Juniper Parrot-pea is a stiff, prickly native shrub growing roughly 1 to 2 meters tall, featuring short, rigid, sharp needle-like leaves that resemble a juniper bush. Throughout spring, it puts on a brilliant seasonal show, completely smothering its spiky branches in dense clusters of bright golden-yellow and red pea flowers. Its lightly spiked habit provides excellent low-level protection and nesting space for small native birds while requiring almost no supplemental watering.
