Silky Hakea

The Silky Hakea is a rigid, densely branched native shrub growing 2.5 to 4 meters tall, heavily armed with stiff, sharp needle-like leaves. In winter and spring, it becomes highly decorative, completely blanketed in a massive, spectacular cloud of small white-to-pale-pink flower clusters, followed by large, wrinkled woody seed pods. It functions beautifully as an impenetrable security boundary or safe-haven bird habitat[cite: 27].
