Cockies Tongues / Common Flame-bush

Cockies Tongues is a robust, highly striking native shrub growing 1.5 to 2.5 meters tall, heavily celebrated for its exceptional color contrast. It features smooth, leathery blue-green oblong leaves, and sets the winter-and-spring garden alight by producing large numbers of unique, long, curved bright red-to-crimson pea flowers that resemble a bird's tongue. It handles harsh coastal winds and dry limestone soils with ease.
